Chief Information Security Officer / Board Advisor
Carl Eyler has over 25 years of global industry experience in cybersecurity and information security governance. His specialty is identifying and coordinating technology risk mitigation via cyber-related governance, risk, and compliance programs. As a subject matter expert in technology risk, governance, and compliance, he has held positions with global financial firms, including Schroders, Deutsche Bank, Credit Agricole, and Santander. Carl continues to provide advisory services to companies in the financial sector.

Educator / Researcher
Mr. Eyler’s specialty is identifying technology risks and coordinating mitigation via cyber-related governance, risk, and compliance programs.
Carl holds a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Excelsior University and an M.S. in Cyber Security from the University of Maryland Global Campus, University College.
Upon completing his Master’s Degree in 2018, Carl returned to the classroom as an instructor teaching courses related to Secure Software Development, Cybersecurity Policy, and Risk Management.
Carl is currently working on a research project that evaluates the annual filings of public companies (Form 10-K), focusing on gaps/weaknesses and missing elements relative to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)’s 2023 cybersecurity disclosure rules, and recommendations for improvement.
Veteran – US Army 1986-2000
Carl enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 2, 1986.
After completing Basic Training at Ft Dix, NY, and Advanced Individual Training at Ft Bliss, TX, Carl’s first assignment was with HHB, 8/43 ADA Patriot Missile Battery as a 16H/16T (Air Defense Clerk / Air Defense Missile Crewman) in Giebelstadt, (West) Germany. During this enlistment, he achieved the rank of Sergeant.

In December 1990, he was deployed with his unit to Saudi Arabia and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.
Upon his return, SGT Eyler reenlisted as a 74F (Army Computer Programmer) and was assigned to Software Development Center – Lee – in Fort Lee, where he assisted in developing logistics software in the ADA programming language.
In 1993, he was transferred to the 516th Signal Brigade / Deputy Chief of Staff for Information Management (DCSIM), United States Army Pacific (USARPAC) at Ft Shafter, Hawaii. His responsibilities included performing basic information security functions on the Global Command and Control System (GCCS). It was during this assignment that he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 1997, he transferred to Arlington, VA, to serve as an Information Systems & Security Analyst with the Department of Defense – Computer Emergency Response Team (DOD-CERT).
In 2000, Carl completed his final enlistment and entered the private sector.
